Despite many slang words and abbreviations making their way into popular dictionaries, using them in reference letters is just not done.
Accountant reference letters need to be kept business-like, i.e., jokes, slang, and casual language is not considered appropriate and do nothing but harm the candidate’s chances of employment.
Accountant Reference Letter Don’ts
• Including personal information which is not relevant to the application.
• Spelling mistakes, typos and incorrect sentence construction.
• Mention negative information such as convictions or court sentences.
Reference letters are used to paint favorable pictures of a candidate’s profile, so they have to be written positively. They need to focus on two things:

• The candidate’ personality
These two, in conjunction with any accomplishments and skills, can make for a word-heavy reference letter – precisely what a new employer is looking for.

To Whom It May Concern
I am writing to recommend Brent Stewart who has worked as an Accountant under my supervision for 12 years. I have often been pleasantly surprised at his ability to bring efficiency into the most difficult of accounting tasks.
Brent has exceptional communication skills, and I believe this is how he manages everything so perfectly. From ensuring that financial data is accurately coded and reported, to monitoring and reconciling disbursements, he is a professional at all.
As soon as Brent joined, he set up backup support for the company’s accounting functions in entirety, which have been its saving grace ever since. His meticulous attention to detail and proven ability to meet tight deadlines has made him invaluable to us. Whether he is part of a team or works independently, he always comes out shining, a quality that I have seen very rarely.
I am happy to recommend Brent to work with your company and assure you that he will be an asset to you. If you require any further information, please feel free to call or text me during business hours.
Best Regards,
